Casey Merhige, Video Game Audio Designer

Casey Merhige

Casey Merhige is an interactive audio designer, composer, and harpist currently based in Los Angeles, CA, but originally from Buffalo, NY.

While earning her Bachelor's degree in Electronic Production and Design at Berklee College of Music, Casey prepared herself for entry into the video game audio field through undertaking rigorous studies in the world's most advanced game audio program, studying the craft with veteran game audio professionals. Her diligence awarded her with an audio position on one of MIT's Gambit Game Lab development teams.

The resulting product of this gratifying work was a game called A Closed World and is available to play here. The game, featuring her all-original, interactive score and sound design, garnered much attention and was awarded as a finalist at Indiecade 2012, a bronze medalist at Serious Play 2012, and featured at Meaningful Play 2012. Since then, Casey has been sonically involved in numerous indie game projects, including QatQi for iOS, and Sandwich Kingdom for the next-gen system, Sifteo Cubes with several more games currently in development.

Besides designing audio for games, Casey enjoys playing and writing music as a multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ. She focuses on creating and experimenting with audio in any and all facets, and relishes every opportunity to engage in something new within the realm of music, art, interactivity and play.

Casey is now working on several collaborative game projects set to release within the year, but is interested in future job opportunities within the professional game audio field.
